My brother-in-law restores vintage radios and TVs, and this one’s a favorite, a Zenith Chairside Radio Console, model 6S341, made in 1938 by Zenith Radio Corp. of Chicago. It has six vacuum tubes, AM and shortwave bands, and even a “police” band from the pre-WWII era. Designed to sit beside an armchair, it let listeners change stations without getting up. 23K views · 552 reactions | Next up on the bench is this Zenith 9h881 console radio chassis. This is for a local long term supporter. The chassis is all original untouched. It has smoked a resistor at some point in its life so after replacing that and the electrolytics, it is working well on AM.
